The painting is presented and supplied in a sympathetic and contrasting frame. The painted surfaces and canvas have benefitted from some restoration, cleaning and conservation, which took place in 2010 on our instructions. The canvas is re-lined.

Eduardo Galli was an Italian artist, born in Naples in 1854. He chiefly painted portraits and Italian scenery. His work was exhibited in Rome and Venice.

His style is delicate and romantic and his works today are relatively rare on the open market.

This marine scene of the Venice lagoon (Laguna Veneta), depicts a number of boats belonging to Venetian traders with colourful red and orange sails in the foreground and the St. Mark’s Campanile (bell tower), which is in St. Mark’s Square, in the background. The viewpoint is from Giudecca district.
